For me, the highlight of last night’s Gather’s Alpha Girls panel was listening to Shellye Archambeau. She didn’t say much, but what she did say resonated. I’ll provide a link to a recording of the event when it’s released.
But here’s one quotation from Shellye:
“The impact and the value that comes from giving. Many people ask how do I build a network. How do I do this or this. But what I found…is you’d be amazed at what can come to you if you actually just give to others, and I have practiced that my whole life. I try to be helpful. I try to give. I try to share. And what that does is people then develop relations, build trust, understanding, and all of that is how you build this network. Because a network and a group of supporters is not how many business cards you have at all, but who do you call in the middle of the night with ‘Oh my God!’ It’s who is the person who is going to come over when it’s not convenient because you need help. That is what a network is. And you get a network and you get opportunities and you get exposure to things if you just start giving to others. You never know what can come back.”
Some entrepreneurs ask why I offer to help them. Well, there’s your answer.
